In short: since February 2024, the AI Developer title (RNCP38603) has been listed in the French National Directory of Professional Certifications (RNCP) until February 2029. It is a bac+3 (level 6) qualification that can be prepared through work-study; its certifying body is the aivancity school, and it is also prepared by accredited organisations (M2i Formation, CCI Hauts-de-France). To aim higher, INSA Rouen Normandie is opening a new TIIA (Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence) engineering apprenticeship track in 2026, over 3 years. During the work-study period, pay follows the legal apprenticeship grid; according to the France Compétences listing, 80 to 100% of RNCP38603 holders were in employment six months later.

Why the RNCP38603 title is a game changer in 2026

Who can prepare the title through work-study?
The entry prerequisites set by the framework are deliberately broad:
- Level 4 (general or technological baccalaureate, or equivalent);
- Level 5 (DUT, BTS or university diploma) in mathematics, statistics, computer science or engineering sciences;
- A taste for code (Python, SQL) helps a lot to get started, the rest is learned during the programme.

The new TIIA track at INSA Rouen: AI engineering through work-study
INSA Rouen Normandie is opening in 2026 a new engineering specialty through apprenticeship: TIIA (Technologies de l'Information et Intelligence Artificielle). The format is built for apprenticeship:
- Duration: 3 years (standard engineering curriculum);
- Rhythm: 1/3 at school, 2/3 in company;
- Specialisation: health and mobility (AI applied to data analysis in these two fields);
- International mobility: at least 9 weeks abroad;
