BTS 2026 results: dates, resits and work-study options

The BTS 2026 results are coming, and with them a fair amount of stress. Whatever the outcome, one thing is certain: a fail is never the end of the road, especially when work-study learning offers a second chance available all year long.

In short: the BTS 2026 results drop between late June and 10 July 2026, depending on your académie and your specialty, and the transcript reaches Cyclades in mid-July. If your overall average is between 8 and 10/20 (with at least 10/20 in the professional exams), you take the resit in early July. And if you fail, the work-study BTS remains open through direct admission, without Parcoursup, as long as you find a company.

When are the BTS 2026 results published?

Publication is spread out between late June and 10 July 2026. The exact date depends on your specialty (MCO, NDRC, SIO, communication, etc.) and your académie, since each board deliberates at its own pace.

How does the BTS resit work?

The control exams are not open to everyone. Two conditions must be met:

  • your overall average is between 8 and 10/20;
  • your average in the professional exams is 10/20 or above.

If that is your case, you choose 2 oral exams among the general subjects to try to raise your average. Good news: only the better mark between the initial exam and the resit is kept. So you cannot lose points.

And if you decide to retake the diploma the following year, the carry-over of marks protects you: any mark of 10/20 or above obtained in an exam matching a unit is kept for 5 years. You only resit the exams you did not pass.

Failing the BTS: why work-study is the best second chance?

A BTS you did not obtain does not close the doors to higher education. On the contrary, it is often the right moment to switch to work-study learning, which combines a diploma, a salary and experience recruiters value.

The key advantage: the work-study BTS is open through direct admission all year round, without going through Parcoursup. On Parcoursup, apprenticeship choices also stay open until 8 September 2026, as long as places remain.

But admission to a CFA (training centre) is not enough: in apprenticeship, the diploma is validated with a contract signed at an employer. So the search starts now. Our method to find a company for your work-study programme covers every step, and you can browse the available work-study offers right away.

How to bounce back effectively from July?

Whether you pass your BTS or not, here is how to turn the summer into a springboard:

  1. Download your transcript from Cyclades as soon as it is online: you will need it for any enrolment or application.
  2. Aim for work-study next (professional licence, bachelor, BUT via parallel admission): a funded and paid diploma is a strong argument.
  3. Launch your company applications without waiting: recruiters sign their work-study students between May and September, and places go fast.
  4. Estimate your future salary with the pay simulator and explore the jobs hiring in work-study.

One last tip: do not face the results alone. Talk to your CFA, your teachers and the companies in your sector. To prepare for what comes next, revisit our pointers on choosing the right work-study programme. Work-study remains one of the surest paths to employment: free training, a salary every month and experience that counts.

How do you qualify for the BTS resit exams?

You take the control exams (resits) if your overall average is between 8 and 10/20 and your average in the professional exams is at least 10/20. You then choose 2 oral exams among the general subjects; only the better mark between the initial exam and the resit is kept.

Can you enrol in a work-study BTS after failing?

What happens to my mark if I retake a BTS?

Where can I download my BTS 2026 transcript?

On your Cyclades candidate account, whatever your specialty. The transcript goes online in mid-July 2026 and stays available until September 2027.
