Solution 1 — CAP or vocational bac in work-study from September
This is the royal road for young people who want to enter a trade quickly without going through the “exam” step again. Both the CAP and the vocational bac can be done through apprenticeship from the age of 16, with no diploma requirement: the apprenticeship contract is enough.

BUTs (formerly DUTs) are increasingly recruiting through parallel admission, directly through the IUTs, without going through Parcoursup. Bachelor programmes in private schools (digital, business, real estate, HR) also welcome post-bac profiles without requiring success in the diploma, provided they have solid upper-sixth reports.

Solution 4 — Pre-apprenticeship and support schemes
For the candidates who are most in difficulty, the pre-apprenticeship scheme (DPA) offers 3 to 6 months of personalised support before entering a CFA. It is offered free of charge by the Missions Locales and some CFAs, and targets 16-to-29-year-olds without qualifications.
Other levers to activate before term starts:
- The École de la 2e Chance (E2C): for 16–25 year-olds with no diploma or qualification, with a 4-to-12-month programme.
- The Contrat d’Engagement Jeune (CEJ): intensive 6-to-12-month support, with an allowance of up to €528 per month.

Solution 5 — Resit the bac as an independent candidate while working
The CNED (French national centre for distance learning) lets you prepare the baccalauréat as an independent candidate over a year, while keeping a job or a parallel enrolment. The 2027 session exams will be held in June next year, on the same grid as in 2026.
